Monroe, North Carolina

Monroe is a fast-growing city and the county seat in Union County, North Carolina, United States. The population jumped from 26,228 in 2000 to 32,797 in 2010. It is the seat of government of Union County〔(【引用サイトリンク】accessdate=2011-06-07 )〕 and is also part of the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC Metropolitan area. Monroe uses a council-manager form of government.

Monroe is located at (34.988760, -80.549792). Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport (EQY) is located five miles to the northwest of Monroe.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which, of it is land and of it (1.13%) is water.
